London gets a bad rap for being something of a crime-riddled dump these days, and it certainly doesn’t help matters when a video of a guy being chased around Earl’s Court station for his watch in broad daylight goes viral.
More terrifyingly still, the would-be watch thief is wearing a winter coat… in June:
Genuinely can’t get over this.

Just begging for the Benny Hill theme music, isn’t it? Initially what’s really sad is that no one seems to be helping the guy out, even though there’s loads of people around and it’s literally the middle of the day.
Thankfully though, it does seem like the suspect was apprehended eventually:
Now, what are the chances this lad actually receives an adequate punishment for attempting to steal this guy’s watch? The answer could have something to do with the fact he was brazen enough to try it in this fashion in the first place.
Whatever happened to the good old days of old-fashioned London pickpockets eh? Thieves will now go full-on Mission Impossible on you without a care in the world for who might see what they’re up to. Just a sorry state of affairs really.
Meanwhile, a commuter who killed a fellow Tube passenger with one punch as revenge for brushing past him on the escalator is set to serve under 6 years in prison. See what I mean?
