Chinese renewable energy firm Longyan Zhuoyue New Energy Co., Ltd. has announced plans to invest RMB 700 million (USD 96.3 million) in a new bioenergy production facility in Chonburi Province, Thailand. The plant will produce biodiesel, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and marks the company’s first major overseas expansion.
The facility, located in the Thai Eastern Industrial Land estate in Nong Yai District, will be constructed in phases. The first phase will include an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of biodiesel and supporting infrastructure. A second phase will add an additional 100,000 tonnes of combined HVO and SAF capacity.
The wholly owned subsidiary Zhuoyue New Energy (Thailand) Co., Ltd. will oversee project implementation. The company has already secured a 50-year land lease for more than 52 rai (approximately 83,200 sqm) and obtained approval from Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI), along with outbound investment registration from Chinese authorities.
Zhuoyue says the project aligns with its long-term development strategy, aiming to leverage Thailand’s availability of waste oils and fats while tapping into strong international demand for low-carbon fuels. The company expects construction to take around 12 months, with capital allocation paced according to development progress.
Management acknowledged potential risks related to cross-border regulatory shifts, market competition, and policy changes but affirmed a strong commitment to risk mitigation and compliance oversight.
