The footbed is very cushiony…I have worn Birks for years and had to get used to the hard, contoured cork footbed. I found these Mia sandals really comfortable straight out of the box. They don’t have hard, high arches like Birks, and they fit my feet really nicely. I did have to tighten the straps because these shoes have some weight to them and I worried my feet could slip out when walking. Felt true to size for me.
