Michelle Obama continued to fuel marriage speculation as she appeared to playfully roast husband Barack Obama during a recent interview. While making an appearance on the Wednesday, June 18 episode of her IMO podcast, the Becoming author revealed why she was “glad” she never had a son with a teasing dig at the former president.
Appearing with cohost and brother Craig Robinson as well as Angie Martinez on the episode, the trio discussed the challenges of parenting young men. When Martinez suggested Michelle “should’ve [thrown] a boy in the mix,” the former first lady was quick to share she was very happy with her two daughters, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 23.

“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy. Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama,” Michelle joked. Martinez persisted, responding, “Baby Barack, it would’ve been amazing.” However, Michelle held firm, explaining, “No, I would’ve felt for him.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Michelle also seemed to poke fun at her husband’s love of golfing as she spoke about raising kids. “Parenting is like fly fishing. I’ve never done fly fishing, but it seems like it’s all in the wrist. It requires a very delicate balance,” she told Robinson and Martinez. “It’s not just tossing it and reeling it in. Let’s go do some fly fishing. It’s better than golf.”

Rumors about the Obamas’ marriage have been swirling ever since Michelle decided not to attend Trump’s inauguration. However, she directly addressed divorce speculation while appearing on The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett podcast in May, revealing that “everyone would know about it” if she and Barack were having relationship issues.
“I’m not a martyr. I would be problem solving in public. ‘Let me tell you what he did,’” she joked. “The beauty of my husband and our partnership is that neither one of us was really ever gonna quit at it, because that’s not who we are,” she added. “And I know that about him. He knows that about me.”
