And Jenny loved the idea, and I love Jenny down. I felt so like I was able to create this character, which is a really nice treat, especially when you have the same person that’s written and created the world in the books handling the show. And she was like, “I love this idea.”
So I was able to keep my braids and I loved it. I think it really fits. I think for a dancer on the go who’s in college, it makes sense. Little Easter eggs, Anika was probably redoing her braids with Belly in their little dorm, semester in and semester out. We have some fun pictures actually from set from the hair and makeup trailer where Lola was helping me undo my braids [and] redo my braids with Krystia and Sid who were the amazing, amazing team behind my hair look. It was really nice to have braids on set, especially because we were shooting for such a long time. Braids will always be easier.
TV: What was your getting ready process like for the premiere event?
SB: I love premiere days. It was music and it felt like we were just getting ready for a night out with the girls. I wore Carolina Herrera, which I was so excited about. And Raz Martinez and Celine Azena, my very, very dear friends but also my amazing stylists, were like, “Maybe we do two looks.” So we did that. I surprised everyone with a mid-premiere party outfit change, and we did a fun Jason Wu dress.
I wanted some green. I wanted some green to complement my blonde choice that I made. I also wore gorgeous jewelry. I was absolutely obsessed with the cuff choker, band choker. I adored the Carolina Herrera dress. That was a little bit outside of my comfort zone, not because I don’t love dresses like that, but because I am such a city, gritty, brick wall girl. So it was really, really nice to kind of put that on and transform and celebrate in that.
TV: I’d love to know a little bit about your personal style. What are some pieces in your closet currently that you’re obsessed with that you can’t live without or that you love to wear often?
SB: Right now, I am obsessed with my Adidas Tokyos. I’m a person that plans out the outfit, and I’ll leave it out to look at it and be like, “Ooh, we’re going to eat tomorrow!”
I’m looking at them right now because I’m going to wear them today. They’re black and lime green. They’re my favorite shoes right now. They’re very low to the ground, which I like because I’m a bit of a taller girl. I don’t know why Google has me so short. They have me as 5’4″, and I am in fact 5’9″ — that’s a little crazy of them. But I love these because I’m a walker. They’re really comfortable, they’re really cute, and I am obsessed with pops of color right now.
