The third-hour of ABC’s Good Morning America, GMA3is undergoing significant changes amid a brand-wide shakeup.
On Monday, July 7, it was officially announced after weeks of speculation that co-hosts DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim are both departing the program—and the network altogether.
According to The Hollywood ReporterABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic informed employees via internal memo that Morgan “has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News” following his tenure at GMA3. The TV anchor’s next steps were not revealed at the time.
Morgan’s move isn’t the only major one happening for the broadcast, as it was additionally reported that Pilgrim’s exit was confirmed in the same memo, citing her new career achievement.

Pilgrim, originally tapped as Morgan’s co-anchor in May 2023 (replacing TJ Holmes and Amy Rian), has accepted a new role as the anchor of CBS’s Inside Editionset to begin this fall. The news personality is stepping into Deborah Norville‘s position following the longtime host’s exit.
This shakeup, which is reportedly part of an “evolution of the show” that has been in the works for weeks, follows GMA3’s low ratings and staff layoffs that took place earlier this year, per New York Post. In March, ABC consolidated the third-hour program’s production team into the main GMA staff and relocated operations.
Internal sources mentioned that the anchors could be replaced by the end of summer as part of the broader unification under the Good Morning America umbrella. In the meantime, viewers can expect to see rotating hosts for the show drawn from the main cast, including familiar faces like Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos, Rebecca Jarvis, Gio Benitez, Ginger Zee,Will Reeve, Sam Champion, and Rachel Scott.
In Karamehmedovic’s memo, he reaffirmed that GMA3 remains “a valued part of the GMA franchise,” promising to keep the third-hour on the air and fold it into the broader brand strategy, amid murmurings that yet another reboot could mean the end of its run.
