The jorts trend is taking off thanks to stars like Stray Kids leader Bang Chan and style prodigies Emme Muñiz and North West. After years of being the butt of the joke, thanks to their clutch over dads’ closets in the ’90s, jorts are officially making a comeback.
Getting a head start on this hot summer trend, the Stray Kids leader posted photos of himself wearing long jorts on his Instagram page. To complete the look, he opted for a white Fendi hoodie designed in collaboration with Japanese artist Tarout and matching platform sneakers. He also threw in a black beanie, an addition that stays in his outfit rotation.
Emme Muñiz was similarly spotted wearing them earlier this season, combining them with another 90s staple, high-top sneakers. North West gave them a trendier spin with a fluttery tank top for her birthday.
They’re not the only ones. Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber and other street style stars have been rotating denim shorts in their wardrobes for quite some time now. So, love it or hate it, extra long, culotte-like shorts had a resurgence last year and have been dubbed nu-metal shorts. Since then, they’ve been trending, with some even incorporating them into their cold-weather looks by pairing them with boots. With the temperatures so high, they’re understandably everywhere this summer. With their looser silhouettes, they’re a chic and comfortable way to both look and stay cool, especially if you pick the right fabrics.
But with their controversial reputations, we can totally get it if you’re not sure where to start. That’s why we chatted with our fellow editors to get some more ideas on how to style the jorts trend.
