There’s no such thing as too many gluten-free snacks. And the selection in the gluten-free section at the grocery store is about to get a touch bigger with Cheez-It revealing that they will be rolling out a gluten-free version of their iconic cheese cracker. Cheez-It has experimented with all kinds of wild flavors and collabs, like a Wendy’s Baconator Cheez-It and a giant Cheez-It base at Taco Bell, but they had yet to offer a Cheez-It for people who can’t eat gluten. Until now. That’s right — the Cheez-It social media team announced on Instagram that the fan-favorite, orange square cracker is finally getting a gluten-free makeover. And people are very, very excited.
On July 7, Cheez-It posted a video featuring gluten-free Instagrammer @philhatesgluten begging Cheez-It for a gluten-free version of their cracker. After his message, a hand places a brand new, red and white box of Cheez-Its with a big, blue gluten-free logo.
The box also makes sure to advertise the gluten-free certification from the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), meaning they have proven safe for consumers who can’t eat gluten.
What flavor are the gluten-free Cheez-Its?
For now, it appears that Cheez-It will just be making a gluten-free edition of their signature Original flavor. But, if the gluten-free Cheez-Its do as well as people’s excited reactions indicate they will, maybe Cheez-It will turn some of their other flavors, like White Cheddar or Pepper Jack, gluten-free too.
When can you get the gluten-free Cheez-Its?
Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait to get your hands on the gluten-free Cheez-Its, as they won’t be (cheese) wheeled out until 2026. The month and date are also undecided, as the Cheez-It post simply says “xx/xx/2026.”
But as their socials also say, “perfection takes time,” so hopefully the far-out date means they’re taking their time to create a quality gluten-free Cheez-It. Here’s to hoping Cheez-Its actually makes a good gluten-free cracker and we don’t end up with a mess like Kraft’s gluten-free mac and cheese.

Cheez-It’s announcement sparked excitement from many across the internet. User @gabby_j0hns0n commented under the post, “Best day of my life will be xx/xx/2026,” while another, @trissinalovesbooks, referenced The Officesaying, “In Michael Scott’s voice “Okay it’s happening. EVERYBODY STAY CALM EVERYBODY STAY CALM!!!!!!”” Most people are not, in fact, staying calm, and that’s OK. We’ve waited way too long for a gluten-free Cheez-It, so gluten-free influencer @nycbutglutenfree’s joy makes a lot of sense: “IT HAS BEEN 16 YEARS OF SUFFERING AND IM FINALLY FREE.”
One commenter, @kathrynkristyna, even took aim at a rival cheese cracker company, saying, “THIS IS THE VERY BEST NEWSSSSS @goldfishsmiles YOU HAD BETTER BE NEXT!”
Clearly, we need more gluten-free cheese cracker options, and we need them now.
