It doesn’t matter if you’re in kindergarten, a college student sitting in a bio lecture, or a gamer winning Battle Royale in Fortnite, snacking always finds its way back into people’s diets. The snacks in question range from Doritos to carrots and hummus depending on one’s tastes. However, if getting a good amount of protein is of great importance to you then protein chips are going to become your best friend if they aren’t already.
A pre or post-workout snack sometimes finds its way into the bags or cars of gym goers so the scent of McDonald’s fries doesn’t tempt one into thinking the fried potatoes can pass as a vegetable. To end that dilemma, here are four protein chips that you can add to your snack drawer.
Quest Nutrition Protein Chips
Founded in 2010, Quest Nutrition threw their hat into the food industry by introducing snacks with protein like bars, crackers, cookies, powders, and chips. Quest’s Dorito-inspired chip flavors include Salsa Verde, Nacho Cheese, Sour Cream & Onion, BBQ, Ranch, Loaded Taco Tortilla, Cheddar & Sour Cream, Chili Lime, Spicy Sweet Chili, and Hot & Spicy. To add a few more grams of protein, TikTok creator @gabbyborquezz likes to make a dip with greek yogurt and green onion mix to dunk the Hot & Spicy chips into. One bag has 18 grams of protein for about $4, and it is $27 for a box of 12 bags.
Legendary Protein Chips
Similar to Quest, Legendary chips come in the shape of triangles, but they have 20 grams of protein. These chips come in flavors like Jalepeño Cheddar, Sour Cream, Pizza, Barbecue, Nacho Cheese, and Ranch, and are sold as a 10-pack for $35.99. TikTok creator @thebuffunicornn likes the Nacho Cheese flavor the best and says the Sour Cream flavor tastes like Lay’s.
Wilde Protein Chips
Wilde protein chips favor potato chips almost because of their circular appearance. These chips provide 10 grams of protein and are made with egg whites, chicken breast, and chicken broth. A variety pack of twelve bags contains Salt & Vinegar, Barbecue, Buffalo Chicken, Nashville Hot, Chicken & Waffles, and Himalayan Pink Salt for about $32. As a chip lover herself, TikTok creator @janeelivinglean says she loves them all.
Homemade Protein Chips
Protein chips can oftentimes be on the pricier end, so an option that you can make at home for half the price is always a win. TikTok creator @that.veganbabe shared her 58-gram homemade Doritos made with high protein tortillas, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, paprika, and salt before she bakes them until they’re crispy.
