Breaking: Villeneuve, Denis Villenueve to Direct ‘Bond 26’ – ScreenHub Entertainment
Amazon MGM has announced that French-Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the next, still untitled, entry in the James Bond franchise. The move comes months after the new 007 producers took hold of the franchise after Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson relinquished their creative control of the franchise.
In a statement, the Quebec filmmaker said this about taking the job:
“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honour.”
With Villeneuve slated to start filming Dune: Messiah immediately, chances are he’ll start working on his 007 project in 2026, for a 2027 release window if I had to guess. Stay tuned for more updates, but as a big fan of the director and for the sake of hometown glory, colour me very excited about this one.
