Europe’s Industrial Powerhouse Gains Sovereign AI Infrastructure to Drive Next-Gen Manufacturing.
Berlin – NVIDIA and Deutsche Telekom have announced a groundbreaking partnership to establish the world’s first industrial AI cloud, a transformative initiative set to bolster Germany’s sovereign AI infrastructure and empower European manufacturers. The announcement, made during NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s European tour following London Tech Week and GTC Paris, marks a significant step in positioning Germany as a global leader in AI-driven industrial innovation.
The AI factory, to be operated by Deutsche Telekom in Germany, will serve as a powerful hub for Europe’s industrial ecosystem, accelerating advancements in manufacturing applications such as design, engineering, simulation, digital twins, and robotics. Equipped with 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, NVIDIA DGX B200 systems, RTX PRO Servers, and advanced networking and AI software, this infrastructure represents Germany’s largest single AI deployment to date.
“In the era of AI, every manufacturer needs two factories: one for making things, and one for creating the intelligence that powers them,” said Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s founder and CEO. “By building Europe’s first industrial AI infrastructure, we’re enabling the region’s leading industrial companies to advance simulation-first, AI-driven manufacturing.”
Timotheus Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom, emphasized the urgency of embracing AI to maintain Europe’s competitive edge. “Europe’s technological future needs a sprint, not a stroll,” Höttges said. “We must seize the opportunities of artificial intelligence now, revolutionize our industry, and secure a leading position in the global technology competition.”
A key beneficiary of this initiative is NEURA Robotics, a German pioneer in physical AI and cognitive robotics. The company will leverage the AI cloud’s computing resources to power its state-of-the-art training centers for cognitive robots. Through its Neuraverse platform—a networked ecosystem where robots learn from one another—NEURA Robotics aims to create an “app store” for robotic intelligence, enabling applications like welding and ironing to evolve continuously. “Physical AI is the electricity of the future—it will power every machine on the planet,” said David Reger, NEURA Robotics’ founder and CEO.
The initiative aligns with Germany’s strategic need to expand data center capacity, which, according to a Deloitte study, is projected to triple to 5 gigawatts over the next five years. The AI factory will provide cloud computing resources to a wide range of users, from Germany’s Mittelstand (small- and medium-sized businesses) to academia, research institutions, and major enterprises. Users will have access to NVIDIA’s CUDA-X libraries, RTX- and Omniverse-accelerated workloads, and software from industry leaders like Siemens, Ansys, Cadence, and Rescale.
This partnership lays the groundwork for Germany’s transition to AI gigafactories, a 100,000 GPU-powered initiative backed by the European Union and set to launch in 2027. The gigafactory program will provide enterprises, startups, researchers, and universities with state-of-the-art AI infrastructure through expanded high-performance computing centers. Approximately 900 Germany-based startups in NVIDIA’s Inception program will be eligible to access these resources, alongside upskilling opportunities through NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Institute.
The collaboration between NVIDIA, Deutsche Telekom, and NEURA Robotics underscores Germany’s commitment to leading the global AI race while maintaining sovereignty over its technological future. As Europe accelerates toward an AI-driven industrial landscape, this initiative positions Germany at the forefront of innovation, ready to power the next generation of intelligent manufacturing.
