
VADODARA: At least six people were injured and ten died after a portion of the Gambhira Bridge over the Mahisagar River collapsed in Gujarat’s Vadodara district on Wednesday morning.Vadodara SP (Rural) Rohan Anand confirmed the deaths.Anand MP Mitesh Patel said three bodies have been recovered and four persons rescued so far. “Rescue operations are still underway. They are being carried out by district officials of both Vadodara and Anand districts,” he said.The incident occurred on the Padra–Mujpur stretch, a key connector between Central Gujarat and Saurashtra, leading to a massive rescue operation by local authorities.

According to initial reports, a truck, a van, and a car were crossing the bridge when it gave way, sending the vehicles plunging into the river below.

Soon after the collapse, locals rushed to the scene and alerted emergency services. Police teams and disaster response units reached the spot and began rescue efforts to retrieve those trapped in the wreckage.Fire brigade officials said that the incident occurred at around 7.30am.“A portion of the bridge collapsed suddenly. Three vehicles that were passing from that stretch fell into the river below. We have initiated rescue operations and 10 have been pulled out of the river,” said a fire brigade officer.
