
NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped in her apartment in Pune by an unidentified man posing as a courier delivery executive, news agency PTI reported.He left a message on her phone, warning her not to inform about the crime to anyone as he had taken her pictures and would share them on social media, and also mentioned: “I will come again”, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde said.The incident occurred around 7.30pm on Wednesday in the Kondhwa area of the city. The woman, who works at a private firm, was alone in the flat as her brother was out of town.According to police, the accused asked the woman for a pen to sign a document and entered the apartment when she turned around. He then latched the door from inside.

She regained consciousness around 8.30pm and informed her relatives, who then alerted the police. Investigators suspect the attacker may have used a chemical spray or sedative to render her unconscious. Forensic teams are examining the possibility. The man also left behind a chilling message on the woman’s phone, warning her not to report the crime. He allegedly clicked a selfie using her phone and claimed to have taken pictures of her, threatening to leak them online if she spoke about the assault. The accused’s face was captured in CCTV footage from the area, and police said efforts were underway to trace him. A case has been registered under sections 64 (punishment for rape), 77 (voyeurism), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
