- Likely to reach showrooms in 2027
- Power output between 600bhp to 650bhp
BMW has been testing its long-awaited electric M3 for a while now, and at this point, this new performance sedan is rather close to reality. That said, the car is likely to hit showrooms in 2027, so there is still some time.
The new M3 will be equipped with wider wheel arches. The brakes will feature two huge discs that occupy the full diameter of the alloy wheels, and will be drilled on both axles to dissipate heat more quickly. The flush door handles will not be like the ‘boxy’ ones that have become the norm on the latest batch of BMW models, such as the 5 Series. The interior of this electric sedan has already been seen in the past, including a new-generation heads-up display at the base of the windscreen.
The powertrain will include four motors, one for each wheel, not only to provide propulsion, but also traction, all-wheel or rear-wheel drive, depending on the situation. BMW has confirmed that there will also be a petrol-powered M3, but it will be nowhere near as fast as this one, which will have a maximum output of between 600bhp and 650bhp.
We will have to wait until the end of 2026 to see the new M3 under the big lights, and until the first months of 2027 for it to reach dealerships in Europe.
