- Currently in its fourth generation phase
- First introduced in 2005
Launched over 20 years ago, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has revolutionised the hatchback segment ever since. With its consistent popularity and demand, Maruti Suzuki has sold over 30 lakh units of the Swift since its launch in 2005.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift is currently in its fourth generation phase and is available at a starting ex-showroom cost of Rs. 6.50 lakh. First launched in 2005, the Swift brought a fresh and sporty design to the hatchback segment. The second-gen model in 2011 was lighter and more agile, while the third-gen in 2018 added more features and updated styling. Now, the new-generation Swift gets a redesigned exterior, updated interior, and a new Z-Series engine focused on better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
Commenting on the occasion, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The Swift is an icon in its own right. Celebrated by over 30 lakh customers in India alone, the Swift is an expression of fun and freedom. The Swift has set new benchmarks over the years with every new model, improving on the inherent ‘fun-to-drive’ DNA. This ever-so-special nature of the Swift has ensured that nearly one out of every four Swift owners comes back to buy another Swift. Today, it enjoys an admirable 31 per cent market share in its segment, contributing to over 10 per cent of MSIL sales. On this special 20th anniversary, we would like to thank all our customers for their unwavering love for the brand Swift.”
