Tesla launched its long-awaited robotaxi service in Austin on 22 June, encompassing roughly ten Model Y vehicles with Tesla employees seated as safety monitors in passenger seats. Chief Executive Elon Musk announced the service with a flat fee of US$4.20 for hand-selected riders in a limited geofenced area of the city.
